Liebster Award

OMG

This has to be the best way to end a month. Getting nominated for the Liebster Award. Oh, my insides are aflutter and my soul is turning into a million tiny unicorns. I'm grinning like a Cheshire cat and crying at the same time. And I can't even blame the teenage mood-swings either.

*cue fangirl squealing*

Now, its apparently necessary that I need to explain what the Liebster award is. It's basically an award that bloggers with under 200 followers can get and nominate to other bloggers with under 200 followers.

The rules are

1. Write 11 facts about yourself

2. Answer the 11 questions given to you by the person who nominated you

3. Nominate another 11 bloggers

4. Include the Liebster logo

So before we get the actual thing underway I just want to thank Mollie for nominating me. Thanks!

Ahem.

Now for Mollie's questions

What advice would you give to new bloggers?
Be patient and stick at it. People will find your blog eventually.

What posts get you the most pageviews?
My Reviews. I always get 20-30 more pageviews than I normally do when I do them. I guess it's because there's not many Nottingham bloggers who tell you where all the hidden gems are.

What are your favourite makeup products and why?
That's a hard one! The only product I totally adore is my Maybelline Falsies mascara. Makes my eyes look huge.

Who is / are your inspirations?
My inspiration are Tolly Dolly Posh . Though I may not love Tolly's style, she has successfully navigated the blogging world, creating a huge fan base and achieved huge awards and scored big interviews at the age of 13.

What is your favourite social media site and why?
Twitter. I practically live there.

What are your favourite hair products?
When I can, I buy the Aussie hair products. I love the smell and the silky feeling it gives my hair.

What is your favourite clothing store?
Beyond retro, Asos, The white pepper and Topshop

What is / was your favourite subject at school?
Drama & English. Though in my last English lesson I cried because we read a poem about 9 11 and the 'jumpers'. May those poor souls rest in peace.

Who are your favourite youtubers and bloggers and why?
Danisnotonfire, Pewdiepie (of course) The game theorists, Amazing Phil, Lomadia, Sips, Emma Blackery, Lukeisnotsexy, The Fine bros. Why? Because I'm a nerd, a gamer, and Dan Howell is hot. (yes mum I did just said that)

Do you like my blog? What can I do to improve it? (I won't be offended!)
I love your blog! Only thing, I get a little confused with the home screen. I think you should just have your posts in one area and have the tabs on the sides. Just my opinion!

What posts would you like to see on my blog in the future and why?
More beauty posts! Yes I know, you do them regularly, but I love them so much and I want to see more!

I Tag

Girl in Pink socks (BTW love the titanic music. Singing along to it right now)

My questions for you

1. What do you love about blogging?

2.Who is your favourite blogger?

3. What is your favourite shop?

4. What would be your ultimate outfit?

5. What is your most awkward moment ever? (Points if you make me laugh)

6. Who are your favourite Youtube fashion/beauty vloggers?

7. What are your most popular posts?

8. Who inspired you to begin blogging?

9. What is your favourite post to write?

10. Do you want to begin a Youtube channel?

11. Any recommendations for my blog? (Not going to get upset!)

Daisy Chain Days

Hello there internet!
Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. I meant to I really did but I had some homework that needed doing. Y'know. School stuff.

I am obsessed with daisy prints at the moment. Like, going through Urban Outfitters is SOUL DESTROYING because they have so many beautiful flower prints on sale. Ugh. Someone tell me when they have a massive sale.

#OOTD Girl in Pastels

Hi Guys!

Hope you're having a nice holiday! I'm enjoying mine by watching all the series' of Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead. Zombles and Lannisters Galore. Harrah.

This outfit is so feminine and pretty. So much pink! The hair is absolutely beautiful. (Image is from Cute Girls Hairstyles. Subscribe to their channel here) I wish I could be able to do that but I can't make a bun without botching it up. Hair isn't my forte. Hehe.

London fashion Week-AW 14-15

Hello internet

Oh joy of joys it's fashion week. The time where I get really confused or laugh at outfits that are the 'height of fashion'.
Being an outsider with no interest in the big fashion companies, its often like watching a herd of crazy exotic animals parade along a catwalk.

I love it.

So today (or tomorrow, depends on when you're reading) I will let you join me as we scratch our heads in bemusement at some of the best/oddest/influential creations.
Central Saint Martins- MA
After being a frequent viewer of many a fashion show, I have come to realise that there will ALWAYS be a Lady GaGa lookalike. I don't mind it though. It just makes things interesting.
Being serious though, from the neck down I actually quite like the outfit. Not a fan of the head thing. Just reminds of a blindfold in a Game of Pin the Tail on the Donkey.
Belstaff
This is one of my favourites. It screams grunge and is something I would definitely wear. The coat in the first image is extremely stylish and is something that looks comfortable AND wearable. But of course I expect no less from Belstaff. Their coats are some of my favourite ones out there.

 Edeline Lee
I found Lee's pieces to be lacking in something. I'm not really sure what but I felt they needed something to make them more exciting. Saying that, I love images 1 and 3 as their cuts are flattering and beaytiful. I;'m not so keen on number 2. Looks more like a dressing gown to me.

Thanks for reading guys! Remember, these are all my own opinions so don't make a big deal out of it if you don't like my criticism. Do leave a comment below though or tweet me on Twitter!

February wish list

Hey internet!

Because I have nothing better to do, my school holiday has basically been a series of watching the box set of The Walking Dead and catching up on the blogs I've neglected to read. Contrary to what you're thinking (which is probably : "OMG this Strawberry girl is so boring!") It's kinda fun. I'm a lot less stressed out than I was, which makes for better posts for you guys. All round awesome-ness

I hope you like this wish list. It's basically a mish-mash of everything I've been loving this month. (Which is everything).

1.Skirt- Urban Outfitters.
I love this skirt. I actually saw it in the shop in Nottingham but I decided I hated it when I saw the price. *le sigh* I love the daisy pattern on this as its so cute and vintage-y.

2. Skirt- Urban Outfitters
This item is so versatile and simple, yet its still really cute. It reminds me of a school skirt a little but I still really like it.

3. Skirt- Ark
Yet another skirt. It seems I'm obsessed with them at the moment, but hey ho, there's worse obsessions. I love the tartan-style pattern of this one, even though I was never a fan of the tartan trend. Just wasn't my thing.

4. Bag- Asos
Does this really need explanation? It's so cute and...blue! I love it so much...

5. Shoes- Topshop
It's Cutiepie Marzia that made me a fan of Mary Janes, now I am forever a lover of them.

6. Dress- The White Pepper
I included this dress on my Valentines day post and I really like it. The cut is adorable but I can just imagine getting a massive coffee stain on the front. White + me = a disaster waiting to happen.

7. Shoes- The White pepper
They're kinda odd looking which sort of makes them attractive I guess. I adore Doc-Martens and anything with a similar style is an instant hit with me.

8.Belt- Asos
Its a pink belt. What's not to love?

Hope you enjoyed this post! Leave a comment down below or on my twitter page!

Review of Boolavard Beautique

Hello internet!

Well thank cupid Valentines day is over. (Although today is hereby given the name of 'Cheap Chocolate Day').

I can now stop being an un-romantic cynical hipster and get back to being my normal quirky self. (It's more fun anyway)

I haven't been doing enough reviews these past few months so I am trying to make up for it. :)

Anyways, this is another shop from the mystical world of NEWARK. It's another hand-made kind of store and has a real Cath Kidson-y feel to it. Hope you enjoy!

First Impressions: I didn't manage to get a picture of the outside as there was a stupid cyclist parked RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE SHOP. Ugh. Some people.
Clothing: All their stock was amazing quality and made from super pretty material. They also sold various brands of makeup and jewellery. All their clothes were made specially for people of the curvy nature, (sweetheart necklines, traditional 50s cuts) which is why I couldn't actually buy any of the clothes, just gaze from afar... *le sigh*

Service: Lovely service all round. The manager is always upbeat every time I go there and, if you ask her, she suggests which cut would suit you and which pattern would make you seem like a more fabulous Marilyn Monroe.

?/10:  9.5/10

I really hope you loved this post! leave a comment or tweet me @unexpected_roar!

(Please note: That is the actual name of the shop. I'm not an idiot. I can spell boulevard. I bought the song.)

Wednesday 12 February 2014

Oh God. It's Valentines Day. Brace yourself.

Umm... I may be THE most unromantic person on the planet, maybe because I am 13, but I am doing a post on it anyway, even if am the most cynical person ever on the subject. Huff. I hope my views won't effect your pink and sparkly day.

Just a note to people like me: Avoid people at all costs. The only person you should see all day is the pizza delivery man. Good luck my friends.

Anyway, I made 3 outfits, cus' you know, I can actually do that. Introducing:
  • The 'girly-girl day' attire
  • The 'I'm on a date'
  • The 'The valentine's day adventure monkey'
Let us begin.

The Girly girl day

No need to go outside today. Just grab other like-minded friends and watch countless episodes of Sherlock/Game of Thrones/Walking Dead/Big Bang Theory

The 'I'm on a date'

If you genuinely have a date/boyfriend/husband I bet you will be wearing a dress. And it will probably be red. Here's my vintage version anyway

The Valentines Adventure

This is an outfit for if you're actually doing things that day (heaven forbid) I tried to make it comfortable and easy to wear.

But, being honest, I really hope you have a great day!

See ya soon lovebirds

The top 10 shops of Nottingham and Beyond

Hello internet!

I would say this was hard...but I'd be lying. This was far too easy. The hardest part was fitting in all the shops into a list with one shop per number. *le sigh* (feel free to check out these places. I'll put their address's & links at the bottom!)

10. Frock
This is a bit of an odd-ball shop and, I'll admit it, I haven't bought anything here. (Mostly because they don't make the dresses in a size 6)
They sew their own vintage dresses and make dresses to suit you... costing nearly £100. I can only dream...

9. Vintage vixen
Yay! Vintage Vixen! I feel so cool when I come here! I can go in and be all like "Wazzup. Yeah. I shop here. I know. Cool right?" (I think I just lost a swag point...)
Anyways, it's always so awesome in there and the absurdity of the wall decorations just makes me happy.

8. Urban Outfitters
I love Urban outfitters with all their chic-ness and vintage-y-ness. Damn their prices to hell though! I come up with so many outfits in my head when looking at a shirt and then I look at the price and I'm like "Nope". Oh pity me.

7.  Baklash vintage
This is the fez shop. Yes. We bought a fez here.

6. White rose
I did do a review on White rose but it's mostly a shop I like to keep to myself. I'm not being selfish its just... its my hipster shop. (Yes I did just say that) No one knows about it and I like it that way.

5. Topshop
Whatever your style is, you gotta love Topshop. Their style is so cool and imaginative- it's basically a slightly cheaper, less vintage-y Urban outfitters. Shame about their prices! (Though if you do buy something from there, you cherish it for years. Trust me. I KNOW.)

4. Asianicandy
This place just screams girliness and and Asian style. You have no idea how many times I have scrolled through, hoping against hope that I had enough cash to get a certain pair of cat themed pumps. I do have to thank Cutiepiemarzia for directing me over here though!

3. The custard factory (Birmingham)
It's a bit of a drive but going up here is always worth it. Granted, the area's not great but this place is like a little gem in a mucky part of town. Or city. Whatever. They have several great vintage shops in one area AND cow vintage round the corner. +1 bonus points methinks!

2. Asos

Asos have all the very versatile items that go with vintage, but I don't usually go there for the main piece of the outfit, just the little extras. Saying that, they are my go-to shop for inspiration and news on trends. The shop is so popular...for all the right reasons!

1. Beyond retro

My love for BR will go on and on. Their style is so urban vintage and effortlessly cool. Their blog is really good inspiration too as their ideas and outfit designs are just...awesome! *le sigh* BR, you make me happy.

And just add several festivals, ebay buys, charity shop finds and vintage market days and you get my wardrobe! Hehe

Vintage Vixen Review

I wild blogger appeared!

(you can see my nerdiness coming out...)

So I hadn't realised that I hadn't done a review in a while and I was in Newark anyway...so one thing led to another and I ended up with piles of vintage in my hands and me grinning like a Cheshire cat. Damn.

First impressions: I loved the outside of the shop, it looked really pretty and vintage-y (well done there Sherlock...) and had a doll outside dressed in really naff 80s clothes. Hehe so cool.

Clothes: They had a good selection of clothes, varying in quality, and THE BEST CONVERSE EVER. *sigh* The prices were quite high for vintage though which made it a little less appealing but apart from that it was pretty good.

Service: The owner was so helpful and nice and had THE best hair ever. There wasn't really any need for any more assistants as the shop layout was quite small.
(If she's reading this, tell me how you did your eyeliner please!)
