Marc Nagtzaam







I've taken inspiration from Marc Nagtzaam's work this season. I love his monochrome tones and lazy, simple lines. They look gorgeous. Thankfully, Topshop has  a vast array of lovely pieces to fulfill my needs. I mean, I always love Topshop (I might not love their prices though. Ditto Urban Outfitters) and their pieces are always lovely, but this season, I think they've done very well. Check out their new stock and have a look!

Also, I found this app called Forest which basically lets you plant a digital tree, and this tree will grow in an allotted amount of time. This is sooooo helpful for me. I annoy the hell out of my friends and family by being on my phone all the time so with this, I am forced to socialize. Yay. (Even I don't know if that 'yay' is sarcastic....)

Spring '15

Is this a wishlist or a guide...?

I love how Spring has such a positive effect on everyone. For example I did my D of E (I know. So middle class. Don't judge) hike/walk/mud swim today and it definitely went into my top 5 list of awesome days. If it had been any other weather it probably would have sucked, but as it was, everyone was happy.

Some highlights of the day were:


  • My friends cornering me and then tickling me (cus' I was bored and kept complaining) so I kept kicking and thrashing and I managed to split my friend's lip. 
  • Videos of my friends running down a hill.
  • In the same video, my friends ran into each other's arms like in some bad cliche romance film.
  • Falling into a KNEE DEEP POOL OF MUD.
  • Getting lost at least 3 times.
  • Singing songs, very, very badly.

Can my hair please do the thing?





 Not gonna lie, the thought of lopping all my hair off is very tempting. But it's scary, isn't it? I mean, I've had super-long dead straight hair forever and I have always been in a very strong love/hate relationship with it. Its just so awkward.

And yet I've seen examples of short-ish hair done right. Ellie from ellie's favourite things for example. There are girls at my school who look friggin fabulous with it. There are literally hundreds of examples of people with damn awesome hair everywhere.

I think (and this is what I always end up doing) that I'm probably going to take it agonisingly slow and cut off a few inches every couple of months. I'm not sure. I think if I did take the plunge THIS is what my reaction would be:

Winter Wishlist

It wasn't hard for me to switch into Winter mode. I'm already there. I mean, there's been freakin' Christmas stuff in stores for weeks now, and John Lewis have already put out their famous adorable advert (which to be honest is definitely rivalled by Sainsbury's.) And my friends have rediscovered their Christmas playlists and are taunting me with that Band-Aid song.

*sigh*

But on the bright side, SNOW, FAIRY LIGHTS, HAVING HOT CHOCOLATE AND NO ONE JUDGING YOU! All wonderful perks that should get a mention. The upsides of Winter never cease to amaze. I can now expect my class to freak out when they see a single snowflake and declare it a "snow day" (with, of course, their faces smushed against the window pane). And the lovely Costa/Starbucks special Christmas drinks that I, without fail, always ask for with extra cinnamon. Mmm cinnamon...

Oh and yes, the most important one. I now have the god given right to justly say:

"Winter is coming".

I guess it's time to finally accept that Autumn is over. Fantastic. Whoopy doo. Time to start huddling for safety under 10000000000 blankets while grasping cups of tea and layering 8 types of sweater on.

Great. Ugh.

At least I get the chance to wear this wicked black wool teddy coat. Just by looking at it I can tell that I'll feel like I'll be being hugged by a giant squishy cotton wool monster. Can't say the same about those sandals though... don't really think it would be a very good idea to go sludging through the snow in those!

Autumn Haul

How was your Halloween? I have to say, mine was pretty good. I went as the stereotypical zombie, only drenched in a ridiculous amount of fake blood and grey face paint. I'd like to say I looked pretty scary but to be honest I think I just looked like Louis Suarez.

Anyways, after recently flicking through my blog archives (is that the name for them?) I realised it has been a full year since last doing a haul post! So naturally, I had to do one. 
I think I got some really nice stuff this season. I think my favourite pieces would have to be either the burgundy brogues which are actually pretty sturdy considering they came from Primark, or the 'hand' necklace which I have literally been wearing with all my outfits. For some reason I'm really loving all the symbol-y type stuff, hence the runes print bomber.

Dressing To Disturb

Hey there guys!
Are you ready for Halloween? I know I am. I've been drenching old tshirts, hoodies and jeans in dirt and fake blood to get that thoroughly zombified look. Though, in the process of doing it I got more mud on me than on the actual costume, which I previously thought would have been impossible...

Anyway, today I've taken three 'traditional' outfits and bumped up the style factor. Tell me what you think in the comments, what's your favourite?

For a skeleton, I could only imagine wearing metallic pieces and gold and silver accessories. Thats why I love the shoes and the coat for this outfit. The sandles almost look like ribs in their shape, plus they're so shiny and space-age while the coat has a gorgeous geometric print that is subtle but combines well the leathered leggings and the shirt.

It had to be dark lace and deep reds for a vampiric outfit, so I took inspiration from the lovely lady herself, Morticia Addams, who always wears inky velvets, long skirts and large rings which just scream vampire vibes.  The lipstick is also perfect - you cant have a vampire costume without dark red lips! I'd also recommended a very strong cheek bone if you were doing this look, so think Angelina Jolie's Maleficent (although maybe not that sharp!)

This on had to be cuter, which is why I've incorporated this gorgeous monster devil bag from Asos which caught me eye in one of the Asos stylists posts. I also noticed that in a lot of devil costumes there are red roses, so the skull and rose choker necklace hits the nail on the head. And the most brilliant thing out of all of this, is that Beyond retro have a full devil kit why is so awesome!

I've literally been watching series marathons of Supernatural over the course of a few months now and I have finally caught up to where I should be. It's been quite an emotional experience watching over 9 years of episodes over the course of 9 weeks. Its kinda crazy really... But of course I needed something to get over the loss of my favourite book series ending.

(*cough* I think my geek is leaking through. Anyone got any bandages?)

Skipping Stones

I cannot believe they already have Christmas themed stuff in shops already. What. The. Major. Hell. Do they not realise that the best holiday is months before that?! Excuse me, but, HALLOWEEN PEOPLE!! It's the best! Better costumes, better candy, and pumpkin flavoured everything! What's not to like?

*rant over*

So anyway, clothes. I love this grungey, tumblr-y look that I have seen literally everywhere so I thought I'd do my own version of it. I really like the tassled bag which gives a nice 80s vibe. I also love the smock dress which I've had my eye on for a while now. Ditto the shoes. God I love those shoes.

This is just going to become an I-love-everything-here post if I carry on like this.

In other news, I'm going to be going to Clothes Show live in Birmingham in December which will be soooo awesome! Can't wait!

#OOTD Watching the world...

Hey guys!

Sorry for the absent post on Friday. I'm trying so hard to shift this friggin' bloggers block. Ugh, I've also recently become obsessed with Supernatural (I know. I'm a bit late to the party...) So I'm trying to watch ALL 9 SEASONS before season 10 comes out this October. Wow my life is so fun and interesting.

 Back to the outfit.

Can I just say that I really want pink hair? I'm waaaay to scared to do it though because I love my natural colour but I also really want to experiment. I dunno. I'm well jealous of the whole crazy hair colours thing. And that tee, omigod that beauty has been on my wishlist for ages now. It's so awesome but the online store keeps running out of them to sell! It is honestly the most infuriating thing ever.

#OOTD Chilling in the Highlands

Showing my Scottish respect with a tartan skirt today. I know. Wow. So rad.

So, I was in Nottingham this weekend, and there was a GIANT PAIR OF LUNGS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MARKET SQUARE. Y'know. The usual. So I went up to it and wandered around a bit and whaddya know, I am now a donor. Yeah, literally all of me is going to be given to someone else if I kick the bucket. I think that's pretty awesome if you ask me. :)

Anyway, I've still got bloggers block but I'm going to be going to London soon so that will be great! I can't wait! We're going to be going to Kew Gardens, Brick Lane (squeeee!) and the Gallery.

So Hot: The White Shirt (styled 3 ways)

This is the ultimate shopping outfit! I love the denim skirt combined with the awesome cosiness of the khaki bomber jacket. And the padded boots are just gorgeous. They are totally on my Christmas list...

 To me, this is a fairly relaxed, but stylish kind of outfit. It reminds me of those cheesy american movies where the characters all have perms and hang out at bowling alleys. The pizza necklace is a perfect example of this, ditto the skin tight leggings (with added tartan for Autumn!) And, of course the amazing denim jacket which is soooo chic.

Out of the three, this is the most girly and cute. I'm sure you recognise the playsuit (of course you do) and the adorable hummingbird watch. But I love the metallic sandles and the vintage dusty floral jacket. They're just beautiful.

Victorian Grunge

Being back at school sucks. There's the early mornings, the actual paying attention to stuff, the new classes, and the ridiculously hard rooms to find. The list goes on. And to top it all off, I'm now in year 9, so it all gets hella serious with teachers.

Ugh.

But enough with the negative. (No one wants that) Lets talk about outfits and clothes and Autumn! Lovely, lovely Autumn. My favourite season. Why? Well... maybe because my birthday is slap-bang in the middle of it, but it's also all about the layering and the general grunge vibe that emanates from every corner of people's wardrobe. You can also just about get away with scarves and gloves.

So with this outfit I tried to incorporate everything I love about the season. You have the gorgeous creepers, which despite their menacing name are literally the cutest things ever, the long shirt dress which is fairly modest but is a staple in any outfit. There's also the choker, which my friend from school showed me and I was like I love it but ohmigod I could never wear that. It takes a certain amount of confidence to wear a choker - confidence I don't yet have. But maybe you can! Tell me how you feel about chokers below! (I'd like to see if I'm not the only one).

#OOTD Red Lips and Rainy Days

Right now, we are edging out of the limbo period in which no one can tell if its Summer or Autumn. Thanks to Topshop and their indescribably perfect Cara Delevingne feature though, we have more solid styles to obsess over and gorgeous Autumnal lookbooks to devour.

Using this newfound spurt of inspiration, I tried to make this outfit a little more girly than the previous ones I've done by using this quirky black playsuit from Topshop. As well as this, I included a completely adorable hummingbird watch that I thought looked really sweet. But to top up the grunge factor I added messy bed-head hair which you can create by either: stealing my hair and then caterpillar crawling out of bed (this is legit) or getting a good quality salt spray and drenching your hair in the stuff. Either works. I then completed this with a pair of awesome monochrome boots, red knee high socks, and a badass metallic tote bag.

So Hot: Motocross

Hey guys

This post was not intentional. It was meant to be an OOTD post but I kinda got sidetracked and well, there we go.

Lets not dwell on the bad though. Lets focus on the SHEER AWESOME-NESS OF MOTOCROSS. I mean, to date, I have not found a more 90s-cool-urbany-chilled style out there. And its not even hard to do! All you need is a few plain or simple pattered pieces, layer them up, add a touch of burgundy or navy and hey presto, you look fabulous and warm all at the same time! It could literally not be easier.

On a completely different note, I'm really happy to say that I'm going to Berlin in a few weeks! This means that le blog schedule won't be stuck to but I will try and update as soon as I get back. Also, I will be going through emotional trauma due to the fact that my favourite book series, the beloved Skulduggery Pleasant will be ending in 9 days time soooo.... yeah I'm gonna cry like a baby when the inevitable occurs and my 4th favourite character dies (The other 3 already kicked the bucket. Damn it)

So many moody colours. And it's not even Halloween yet...
 
Hi guys. Do you ever just completely switch your seasonal style? Because right now I have gone from pretty pastel dresses and adorable brogues to full on DARK GOTHIC GRUMPY AGHKF. This has to be a thing that someone else does. Anyone?
 
Saying all that, I do really like this kind of outfit. You all know I am obsessed with the wide brimmed fedora and the patterned doc martens but I'm not so familiar with styling jeans, mostly for the reason that I own, like, one pair of partially destroyed denim ones with actual bike oil on them. I know. Stylish. Let me know what you think in the comments!
 
 
In other news, I think its time I actually made a schedule for this blog and for once, stick to it. So, I will be posting Tuesdays and Fridays + a bonus day if I can. Ack. This blogging shizzle just got REAL.

So Hot: Tartan

Heya guys!

Today you get tartan stuffs.  Yay Lumberjacks!

So, the most distressing thing about August is the fact that fashion companies/magazines can't decide whether its Autumn or Summer. This puts couture gremlins like us in the dark about whether we should be wearing shorts or shirts. Ack! Why fashion, why?!

And as you may have guessed I'm just plunging straight into the Autumn pool. (It's too cold in England anyway) This means: ripped jeans, grungy flannel shirts and those freakin awesome wide rimmed fedora's that I just can't find under £40. *sigh*

Autumn Wishlist



Pftttt..... it may not technically be Autumn right now but hey, what can I say? I'm a forward thinking person.

Heya guys! This is my seasonal wishlist that rounds up basically everything I want for the upcoming new season. Lots of these beauties are taken from my Mallzee app which has basically become my mini bible for shopping. It shortens everything down and makes it super easy for me to metaphorically cry over how little money I have.

I digress.

But anyway, I think for the new season there will be lots of metallic material and cargo/semi-army print. There will also be printed beanies and toned down Aztec print and as for hair and makeup, I'm pretty sure it will be all about the I-literally-just-rolled-out-of-bed hair and the smudged eyeliner. Maybe in the later months lips will take a gothic plunge and go for dark reds and cranberry colours. However, I would definitely begin steering away from the minimalism route and take up more layered, patterned wear. Grunge will totally rule the next few months.

Fairly Whimsical Summer


Heya guys!

Today, we're heading into more festival-y type clothes. Yes, we're completely ignoring heat suitable attire and heading straight for the mom jeans (which I love) and the boho-chic flowery kimono. We shall also embrace the feathered fedora with as much affection as the cat hat.

(Because lets be honest, who didn't love the cat hat? Y'know the thing I'm talking about right?)

I just LOVE this outfit. Its really floaty and whimsical but also kind of cool because whenever you put awesome shades on and that hat you instantly look like you've walked out of a vogue magazine. It just radiates style and glamour for the Summer to Autumn months but it also looks comfortable and relaxed at the same time.

Eat my Shorts

Ahhhh.... warmth at last. If I'm ridiculously lucky, I might even get a tan. But that seems a little far fetched for my pale-as-frickin-snow skin.

Hello my lovelies! I am here to give you ALL the shorts. I couldn't manage to find a single pair today while out shopping that were A, long enough to give complete coverage of my butt, and B, versatile and comfy. *sigh*

So here are my beauties, hand picked from the depths of the internet. Tell me your favourites in the comments! I personally love the pair in the top left hand corner and bottom right and centre. The cargo/crocodile print shorts will really stand out and can possibly be worn in warmer Autumnal months. I also really like the very centre pair as they are super cute and ditzy with the little flower emblems.
