Marc Nagtzaam

I've taken inspiration from Marc Nagtzaam's work this season. I love his monochrome tones and lazy, simple lines. They look gorgeous. Thankfully, Topshop has  a vast array of lovely pieces to fulfill my needs. I mean, I always love Topshop (I might not love their prices though. Ditto Urban Outfitters) and their pieces are always lovely, but this season, I think they've done very well. Check out their new stock and have a look!

Also, I found this app called Forest which basically lets you plant a digital tree, and this tree will grow in an allotted amount of time. This is sooooo helpful for me. I annoy the hell out of my friends and family by being on my phone all the time so with this, I am forced to socialize. Yay. (Even I don't know if that 'yay' is sarcastic....)

Spring '15

trench coat | grey beanie | striped top | denim top | white dress | alien sweatshirt | necklace | ripped jeans | drip sweatshirt | metallic shoes | cross earrings | blue jacket

Is this a wishlist or a guide...?

I love how Spring has such a positive effect on everyone. For example I did my D of E (I know. So middle class. Don't judge) hike/walk/mud swim today and it definitely went into my top 5 list of awesome days. If it had been any other weather it probably would have sucked, but as it was, everyone was happy.

Some highlights of the day were:

  • My friends cornering me and then tickling me (cus' I was bored and kept complaining) so I kept kicking and thrashing and I managed to split my friend's lip.
  • Videos of my friends running down a hill.
  • In the same video, my friends ran into each other's arms like in some bad cliche romance film.
  • Falling into a KNEE DEEP POOL OF MUD.
  • Getting lost at least 3 times.
  • Singing songs, very, very badly.

The White Dress Wonderland

1 | 2 |3

4 | 5 | 6
Thank every deity/god/celestial being for spring slowly arriving. I really need some kind of sunshine right now. I am sick to death of super thick jumpers, woolly tights, awkward jeans that don't fit and beanies that make me look like my head is a cross between a gnome and an alien. Is it too much to ask for weather that doesn't require a gazillion layers? Pretty please?

(Note: My evident grumpiness is due to my top brace being applied on Sunday. Only one more year of treatment...)

Not quite there but nearly

coat | shoes | necklace | dress | bag

That dress right there has been going in and out of stock for the last six months and its only NOW that I have finally ordered it. It's one of those things that you love dearly but every time you decide Yes. Today is the day. Today I shall treat myself and get the thing, you see that dreaded out of stock sign and all that anticipation just melts away and you are left there feeling slightly betrayed. How weird is that? You can feel betrayed by a pretty dress. Weird huh?

(I think I get the digression award here. Kudos if you made it through all that wittering.)

Also, I've changed my update schedule to Saturday. It's way more convenient than a Friday and means I can spend a lot time on the posts (which is good for you readers).

For the Love of Valentine

watch | bag | ring
dress |  jacket | jumper

shoes | ring | skirt

Tomorrow, pushing through the onslaught of  Valentine's day blog posts will be tiring. There's just so many of them. There's 734930943740484 more beauty, fashion, how tos and tags to wade through just because it's the day of love.

And maybe, just maybe, the reason I find this all so funny/boring is because I'm an awkward 14 year old with absolutely no interest in all that yet because she'd still rather fangirl over some weird anime or watch gaming videos on youtube by various funny hosts. Huh.

But happy valentine's day guys! Whatever you're doing, wherever you are and who you with, I hope you have an awesome time!

The French Mistake

Ignore those update times I said I woulds stick to. Pfffffff who needs good time management anyway?

*cries in corner*

I am, actually, very sorry about that. I had parents evening (buckets of thrilling family fun) and another school thingy on Friday and like, some weird essay that I completely forgot about until Sunday night when I looked at what I needed for Monday and hey look there's this big homework that I've neglected. YAY.

Is there an award for complaining? I'd probably get it.

Somewhere pretty to rest your head....

lazy oaf

Perhaps it's down to the fact that I love to put outfits together that I love to put rooms together. It's a deep rooted aesthetic thing probably. But I do, I really do. It's only recently that I have finished painting my room a lovely shade of Scandinavian-y light blue (kudos to my Mum for that, she's pro at painting) and have bought one of those clothes hanger things that you find in clothes shops. I'm not sure what it is, but in Spring there's a need for everything to be clean, tidy and organised (which is my normal mindset really, but as my parents can confirm, I almost NEVER get it done. Cue the whole "MADDY TIDY YOUR ROOM RIGHT NOW!" affair.)

So what's your guys take on it? Any of you feel like the urge to complete change your space?

All hail the 70s

1 | 2 | 3

9 | 10

To be quite honest,  I was never one of those people who were *ahem* bold enough to go for the 70s look. The closest I ever got was perhaps a flower crown and I'm not even sure that counts. I would have cringed at the thought of wearing wooden wedges and mustard colored pieces. I would never, NOT EVER be seen dead in THAT.

But times have changed.

And frankly my younger self should have at least tried it because (if done subtly) it can be awesome as hell. For example, my favourite coat has a lovely 70s/80s feel to it and I wear it with my roll neck jumper, my mary janes that I got from a charity shop and my ripped light blue skinny jeans.  I personally think it looks very cute and quite spring-ish.

Dawn of the Pretentious Slippers

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5
AGhhhhhhj;dsnjkcnsdcmdl.

I had my teeth out today. OH. MY. GOD. It was just awful. But at least its over. Its (supposed) to be a smooth downhill slope from here. Wish me luck.

But anyway, I think this is one of my more... mature-ish outfits. I say this because of the frankly, weird shoes. What the hell are you meant to do with your heel? They remind me of pretentious-slippers quite honestly. What do you think?
I do really wish I had a gorgeous gigantic jumper like that one though. I would love to snuggle to up in that, read bizarre fanfiction and try not to spill tea on myself in that.

(I was clearly meant for Fashion Week as you can tell.)

The friggin' hiatus

necklace
smock dresschoker
coat
beanie
rucksack
brouges

Again, I'm sorry for the irritating hiatus. I really AM trying to make do without my laptop , but its super annoying without all of the masses of files that I so heavily rely on. Aghhhhhhh

I hope you all have a fantastic Christmas and an awesome new year! I love you all and am soooo grateful for all the lovely support I've had this year.

(I know no one likes these bits. The 'journey' bit. The bit where you say "its been a rollercoaster journey. I'm so grateful bla bla bla bla bla" But y'know its kinda necessary sometimes. )

Art on... Stuff

Shirt
Jacket
Beanie
Skirt
Brouges
Bag
Gloves
Smells like a Zara photoshoot in here.

I love the forest green hues and rustic knits in this. I am really liking that style this season. Gives me Winter-y shivers down my freezing spine.
I think my favourite pieces would totally be the skirt and the jacket. The jacket is seriously cool and effortlessly chic and the skirt has a gorgeous french design that almost looks like art on fabric. Its beautiful really...

*ahem*
I think I might have just turned into a proper blogger for a second...

Winter Wishlist

Beanie | Red Jumper | Snake Bangles | I Agree T-Shirt | Tassel Loafers | Mesh Bomber | Silver Backpack | Boots | Green Check Coat | Necklaces | Flower Dress | Gingham Skirt | Khaki Dress | Red Jeans | Chocolate Coin Purse | Grey Bomber
It wasn't hard for me to switch into Winter mode. I'm already there. I mean, there's been freakin' Christmas stuff in stores for weeks now, and John Lewis have already put out their famous adorable advert (which to be honest is definitely rivalled by Sainsbury's.) And my friends have rediscovered their Christmas playlists and are taunting me with that Band-Aid song.

*sigh*

But on the bright side, SNOW, FAIRY LIGHTS, HAVING HOT CHOCOLATE AND NO ONE JUDGING YOU! All wonderful perks that should get a mention. The upsides of Winter never cease to amaze. I can now expect my class to freak out when they see a single snowflake and declare it a "snow day" (with, of course, their faces smushed against the window pane). And the lovely Costa/Starbucks special Christmas drinks that I, without fail, always ask for with extra cinnamon. Mmm cinnamon...

Oh and yes, the most important one. I now have the god given right to justly say:

"Winter is coming".

Pink Winter

I guess it's time to finally accept that Autumn is over. Fantastic. Whoopy doo. Time to start huddling for safety under 10000000000 blankets while grasping cups of tea and layering 8 types of sweater on.

Great. Ugh.

At least I get the chance to wear this wicked black wool teddy coat. Just by looking at it I can tell that I'll feel like I'll be being hugged by a giant squishy cotton wool monster. Can't say the same about those sandals though... don't really think it would be a very good idea to go sludging through the snow in those!

Autumn Haul

look at me and my stupidly clunky camera

How was your Halloween? I have to say, mine was pretty good. I went as the stereotypical zombie, only drenched in a ridiculous amount of fake blood and grey face paint. I'd like to say I looked pretty scary but to be honest I think I just looked like Louis Suarez.

(ノ゚0゚)ノ~

Anyways, after recently flicking through my blog archives (is that the name for them?) I realised it has been a full year since last doing a haul post! So naturally, I had to do one.
I think I got some really nice stuff this season. I think my favourite pieces would have to be either the burgundy brogues which are actually pretty sturdy considering they came from Primark, or the 'hand' necklace which I have literally been wearing with all my outfits. For some reason I'm really loving all the symbol-y type stuff, hence the runes print bomber.

What do you think? Tell me in the comments!

Dressing To Disturb

Hey there guys!
Are you ready for Halloween? I know I am. I've been drenching old tshirts, hoodies and jeans in dirt and fake blood to get that thoroughly zombified look. Though, in the process of doing it I got more mud on me than on the actual costume, which I previously thought would have been impossible...

Anyway, today I've taken three 'traditional' outfits and bumped up the style factor. Tell me what you think in the comments, what's your favourite?

Enjoy!

ring: Topshop
coat: Topshop
leggings: New Look
scrunchie: New Look
tshirt: Asos
bag: Asos
shoes: New Look
For a skeleton, I could only imagine wearing metallic pieces and gold and silver accessories. Thats why I love the shoes and the coat for this outfit. The sandles almost look like ribs in their shape, plus they're so shiny and space-age while the coat has a gorgeous geometric print that is subtle but combines well the leathered leggings and the shirt.

choker: Asos
skirt: New Look
gloves: Asos
ring: Asos
top: Beyond Retro
purse: Asos (similar)
boots: Topshop
earings: Asos
lipstick: Topshop
It had to be dark lace and deep reds for a vampiric outfit, so I took inspiration from the lovely lady herself, Morticia Addams, who always wears inky velvets, long skirts and large rings which just scream vampire vibes.  The lipstick is also perfect - you cant have a vampire costume without dark red lips! I'd also recommended a very strong cheek bone if you were doing this look, so think Angelina Jolie's Maleficent (although maybe not that sharp!)

bomber: Topshop
choker: Etsy
shoes: Asos
nail paint: Barry M
dress: New Look
rucksack: Asos
socks; Topshop
devil kit: Beyond Retro
This on had to be cuter, which is why I've incorporated this gorgeous monster devil bag from Asos which caught me eye in one of the Asos stylists posts. I also noticed that in a lot of devil costumes there are red roses, so the skull and rose choker necklace hits the nail on the head. And the most brilliant thing out of all of this, is that Beyond retro have a full devil kit why is so awesome!

Space Invaders

Hat: Missguided
Bracelets: Asos & Etsy
Dress: New Look
Choker: Cut the Cord
Nail polish: Essie
Shoes: Asos
Coat: New Look
Other people go outside? Pffff not me.

I've literally been watching series marathons of Supernatural over the course of a few months now and I have finally caught up to where I should be. It's been quite an emotional experience watching over 9 years of episodes over the course of 9 weeks. Its kinda crazy really... But of course I needed something to get over the loss of my favourite book series ending.

(*cough* I think my geek is leaking through. Anyone got any bandages?)

Snake Occasion

top: Topshop
scarf: Asos
rings: 1/2/3
skirt: New Look
bomber: Topshop
boots: Topshop
tights: New Look
Hey guys!

Went to Curvar Edge last weekend which was AMAZING. The photo quality isn't great, but below are some of the photos I took with my phone. (I left my camera at home asdfihofdskjf)
The drops on the cliffs were just crazy, and there was a vast amount of mist covering the entirety of the area below, so standing on the edge of those rocks... was like standing over the abyss. It was amazing. I totally suggest going there. It was also the perfect weather because it wasn't even windy or even rainy for once (hallelujah!) and all the leaves were just turning a gorgeous hue of gold. It couldn't have been more perfect.
